The Crossing has many ministries to enrich the lives of our congregation. We are a vibrant and growing fellowship of believers who love to have fun. Jesus has come to give us life to the fullest.
- The Crossing is dedicated to offering the best in biblical, relevant teaching.
- Children’s Sunday School exists for children from birth through grade 5.
- Youth are challenged each week to develop a working knowledge of God’s word.
- Adult Bible Fellowships seek to build strong relationships around God’s truth.
- Small groups meet in member’s homes for study, fellowship and interactive learning.
The Crossing is led by its staff and six Ministry Teams. The teams represent Administration, Education, Fellowship and Ministries, Gifts, Missions and Evangelism and Worship. Attempts are made to find a place for every believer that is both fulfilling to the individual and which builds up the body of Christ. Included among a diversity of ministries is our support of the Interfaith Housing Coalition, KidsHeart in the Rio Grande Valley, community outreach events, the Mesquite Police Department, Cub Scout Pack 1115, New Orleans inner-city ministry, Union Gospel Mission’s Center of Hope, Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas and more…
The men of The Crossing are learning to be authentic followers of Jesus Christ. We encourage men to be faithful in their relationship with Christ, with their family and their church. Special activities provide men with great opportunities to be challenged, trained, and to learn how to grow as men in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.
Men's Fellowship meets Saturday at 8:00 a.m. in the Hospitality Room..
Our Men meet every other Saturday for at 7 a.m. for a time of prayer and them go to Breakfast for a time of food and fellowship. Contact Bob Bryan for more details.
The women of The Crossing have dedicated themselves to recognizing that they are Women of Worth based on what Christ has done for us. Their purpose is to emulate the model of women of worth as described in Proverbs 31 through study, ministry, fellowship, prayer, and community involvement.

Deacons serve different roles in different churches. The Crossing’s deacons are elected to be servants of the church. They are active in the following areas:
- visiting those who show interest in our church.
- supporting the pastor in the outreach and evangelism efforts of our church.
- caring for the sick and the widowed.
- caring for those with needs of either a spiritual or physical nature.
- ministering to the needs of families in our church.
They are active in a variety of ministries and provide support prayerful support to our church.
The Youth Ministries special “Summit” website has been produced to inform students, parents and guests of all youth activities. Take a look!
Special programs provide exciting and challenging activities for all youth.
Middle and high school youth meet Wednesday nights for “Summit” from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Sunday morning bible study begins at 9:30. Small groups meet Thursday nights from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

The Children’s Ministry at The Crossing recognizes children to be one of our greatest resources. We have an excellent team of dedicated, well-trained workers who know your children on a first name basis, who pray for them regularly and who teach them at their level of comprehension.
Our Children’s Ministry offers Sunday school for all ages on Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. and Bible Drill for Kindergarten through 6th grade on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evenings children may be involved in Children’s Choir and JaM (Jesus and Me).
In addition to weekly activities, The Crossing sponsors a great summer Vacation Bible School, participates in Sabine Creek Ranch Camp, involves children in hands on mission projects and performs an annual musical.
Today ’s New International Version of the bible says, “The prayer of a righteous person is power and effective.”
The Crossing utilizes e-mail for emergency prayer requests. Our goal is to be a praying church at every level of our existence and activity

By networking with Kids Hope USA, we are able to mentor children at Thompson Elementary School. Our mentors meet one hour a week with one student.
English as a Second Language
ESL offers English classes to anyone in need of improving their English skills. Child care is also provided during ESL instruction. Citizenship classes are also offered.
Mission to Mission
Ministering to the least of these in the colonias of the Rio Grande Valley allows us to share the Gospel, build homes, upgrade existing homes and meet the physical and emotional needs of those in the Valley.
Town East Health and Rehabilitation Center
Residents of this facility are given the opportunity to worship and fellowship with members of The Crossing each Sunday morning.
Center of Hope
Once a month a worship service is led under the leadership of Gospel to the Americas for the homeless women of The Center of Hope. A children’s ministry is also offered monthly.
Mesquite Police Department
Officers who work the deep night shift are delivered snacks, scripture and prayer each month.
Families are encouraged to sponsor a child from another country who does not have the resources to meet all of their needs.
Support is offered to teams who come to the Dallas area annually to minister in the inner city of Dallas.

Kids Hope USA

Gospel to the Americas - Barb Leonard's Blog

Pastor Charles Brown
Charles Brown (Charlie) is a graduate of Mesquite High School, Texas A&M Commerce and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Upon graduation from seminary in 1978, Charlie and his wife Glenda moved to Seattle, Washington. There he served as Director of Baptist Student Ministries at the University of Washington for five years.
In 1983 he moved to Austria where he and his family served for twelve years with the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
In 1995 he returned to Mesquite, Texas. During that year he worked as a chaplain in the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Children’s Medical Center, refining his skills in the areas of leadership and pastoral care. Following a desire to remain on the cutting edge of reaching people for Christ, Charlie became the pastor of The Crossing Baptist Church in November 1996.
Charlie is married to the former Glenda Wierick. Glenda is active in various ministries of The Crossing including Children's worship, music and women's ministry. Their children include Greg, wife Jenni, and sons Micah, Lance and Brett; Bradley, wife Amanda, and son Joshua; Danny, and wife Kimmie.
Ray Fitzwater, Minister
assumed the role of Minister to students but
is no newcomer to the Crossing. Ray Fitzwater
is the pastor of the SUMMIT.

Jana have been members of the church for almost
13 years. Ray Fitzwater currently works as a
detective for the City of Rockwall and is a
sergent in his position. Ray loves his family
and friends and has over the past decade contributed
alot to this youth group.

by them all in our church. They have been a
great base to our youth group over the years
and they have never stopped investing in the
lives of our students. They look forward to
meeting as many students as possible and sharing
God with them to the best of their abilities.
Kelley Evans, Children's Minister
Kelley and her family have been members at The Crossing since 2004. During this time she has taught children in Sunday School, VBS, and Bible Drill. She has organized and led children's camps and other special activities for children of The Crossing and the community.
Kelley has been married to Darrel
for 20years and is the proud mom of Zachary
(age 14) and Matthew (age 12). She is a lifelong
resident of Mesquite and a graduate of North
Mesquite High School and Eastfield College.
Kelley is naturally compassionate and enthusiastic about children and leading them in ministry. She believes children are a gift from God and they are the future leaders of our church. She loves to get "down and dirty" with them, play with them, hug them, cry with them and help them any way she can. She is looking forward to what the future holds for the children of The Crossing.
